Talking about gender equality in a constantly changing world, increasingly open on issues of inclusion and in which, today, many women worldwide are heads of their households, is one of the challenges of this 21st century. In this month dedicated to women, we want to talk about our Top Women project.
This initiative comes from the Firm’s increase in female leadership, with 50% of our staff being women. Our two partners in the organization: Alhelí Rodríguez in Guadalajara, and Montserrat Colín in Mexico City, have become an inspiration for all of us at JA Del Río.
Our Top Women project seeks to raise gender equality awareness through national and international speakers talking about their life experiences, how they live gender equality in their companies, how they balance their personal and work lives, and the implementation of equality in their workplaces.
In 2020-2021, under the leadership of Montserrat Colín, Tax Partner and Top Women committee leader, we held our first edition called “Women who inspire.” There, we talked with outstanding women in the professional environment in Mexico, who keep paving the way for new generations of leaders. Our panelists were Kelly Kroger, CEO of C&A Latin America; Sofía Pérez Gasque, national president of the Coordinating Council for Business Women; Janet Vásquez, information chief at Meganoticias; and Iralia Figueroa, Senior Director of Internal Audit at Walmart Mexico and Central America.
In our second edition, we sought to give a voice to those supporting the initiative to tell us about their experience and share the business value of implementing equality in the professional field. We opened the second edition with the panel “Gender equality: Women and men, the same voice,” with highly prestigious panelists, such as Samantha Louis, CEO of Praxity Alliance, and Kellie Becker, Partner and International Tax Services Practice Leader at Plante Moran.
We will close the month with the panel (in Spanish) “Latin America, a region opening doors to equitable business,” maintaining the voice of union and equality, which both men and women have taken as an objective to make businesses more humane and transparent.
We open paths because we are part of the change, part of the same voice striving for a more equitable world.
